Scalping
© Sep 2001 by Harris Dyes,

Scalping is now legal in Georgia.  A person may buy a ticket to a performance and then stand outside of the venue and sell the ticket for whatever amount he can get.  The performers do not get any of the increased value.

Let’s once again make scalping illegal.  Let’s allow Ticketmaster to sell tickets for more than the face value.  The Law of Supply and Demand will determine  the upper limit of the price.  The performers will get whatever they now get and 90% of the increased price and Ticketmaster will get whatever they now get and 10% of the increased price.  The performers are rewarded for producing a product that people want and Ticketmaster is rewarded for the effort they expend in judging the market.
