Afghanistan Invasion Force
(composed within days of Sep. 11, 2001)

Please GWB do it right this time.

Six Battle Groups.
It will be Spring 2002 before this force can be created.

Each Battle Group will enter Afghanistan from a different side of the country. The Battle Group will massively return any fire it receives. The building or village from which the fire came will be destroyed. Anyone with a weapon in his hands will be shot.  Anyone in the area from which fire came, will be shot. All military equipment in the country that is not ours will be destroyed.

The core of each Battle Group will be a battalion of self-propelled 155's with atomic shells.  It does not matter how large a force confronts the Battle Group, it will not be overcome.  A small enemy force will be met with ordinary HE and Whiskey Papa shells.  An enemy force large enough to provide a demonstration will receive one or more atomic shells.  The Battle Group will be surrounded by a picket-line of GI’s formed into a square. The picket-lines on the flanks will be on both sides of the crest of the hills on the flanks. Each line will be composed of tactically placed  soldiers. The box will be about 10 miles by 10 miles. The Battle Group will move continuously. The soldiers will walk for 4 hours and then be relieved.  There will be more than enough vehicles to carry all of the GI’s. They will be able to sleep in the moving vehicles for 8 hours out of 24 hours. The Battle Group “box” will be large enough for aircraft to land in the center. The Battle Group will not repeat the simple-minded mistake of riding into the mountain pass leaving the enemy up in the hills to shoot at them. The GI’s will go up into the hills.  The enemy up the hill has the advantage of the GI down the hill.  Therefore, the hill will covered with napalm and white phosphorus before the GI’s begin their climb.

On the picket lines:
* GI’s with dogs.  The picket-lines will be patrolled by hundreds of dogs.
  The country if full of booby-traps. The enemy hides in caves. There
  are many personnel mines. The dogs will be used to find all of these
  things.
* GI’s with hand-held mine detectors will clear all paths.
* GI’s with sniper rifles.  Any enemy within 600 yards will be shot.
* GI’s with field glasses.  These GI’s will watch the “distance”
* GI’s with flame-throwers.  Every cave will be filled with flames.
* GI’s with rocket launchers.
* Artillery FO’s.

For the GI’s:
* Body armor.  Every GI will have body armor that is better than the 2
   bank-robbers in Los Angeles were wearing.  Bullet-proof face masks
   will be created for the GI’s.  Bullet-proof material  for upper-body,
   lower-body, arms, and legs for each GI will costs several thousand
   dollars - not a consideration.
* Night vision equipment.  Every GI on duty at night will be wearing
   light-enhancing eye-wear.
* Uniforms of the GI’s.  A fine mesh will be sown onto the legs of the
   trousers. The mesh will be partly inserted into the boots.  This
   blousing techniques will allow filtered air to flow up the legs.
   Suspenders will replace belts.  This will allow the air coming up the
   legs to exit around the neck.  Flow channels will be sown on the
   shoulders of the T-shirts so the air can flow around the shoulders and
   out around the neck. A mesh strip will be sown into the top, back of
   the shirt and covered by a loose flap.  Solar-powered fans will be
   installed in the helmets.  Two fans drawing air in the front-bottom
   and two fans exhausting the air in the rear-bottom of the helmet.
* Every GI will have a CBR suit.

Support Units.
* Drone aircraft.  These will provide pictures of everything around the
   Battle Group.
* Hospital, food, laundry, mail.
* Tanks: those with guns, and those with flame-throwers.
* Tank mounted mine sweepers.  These tanks will lead all other
   vehicles.  The road will be cleared by these tanks.
* Computer-aimed artillery.  Radar will track incoming artillery shells
   and a computer program will compute the location of the enemy
   artillery and direct our artillery where to hit the enemy artillery.
   This will be done within seconds - before the enemy has time to move
   their artillery piece.
* Communication.  The Comm Center will be able to receive optical and
   infrared photos from our satellites. Any missile or military installation
   detected by the satellites will be destroyed immediately.  The Comm
   Center will be able to communicate with any U.S. installation in the
   world.  TV and sound communications will be maintained with all
   sections of the Battle Group and  with the other Battle Groups.
*  Helicopters. Carrier based fighters. Land based bombers. Every
    aircraft in America's arsenal.

These Battle Groups will “walk” around Afghanistan until everyone in the world wakes up in the morning with the thought: “the price for killing Americans is too high, terrorism is not worth this price”.  Many Muslims throughout the world are convinced that they can defeat the U.S.  They are saying that we are afraid to send in ground troops.  We “ran” after the truck-bombing of the barracks in Lebanon, we “ran” after the ambush in Somalia, we “ran” after the truck-bombing of the embassies in Africa, we “ran” after the truck-bombing of the barracks in Saudi Arabia, we "ran" after the Cole was torpedoed, and we “ran” after the truck-bombing of the Trade Center.

This time we “walk”.
